Spring has sprung in lovely, leafy Richmond and those long sunny days are on the way! If you can’t wait to head out exploring on foot, check out these 5 beautiful local walks where you can immerse yourself in nature, enjoy spectacular views, and make the most of the gorgeous blooms of the season.



Richmond Park - Tamsin Trail

To the start point from the hotel: On foot: 1 minute

Stepping into Richmond’s famous Royal park feels like embarking on a rural retreat. By spring, its spectacular views and winding woodland trails are made all the more beautiful by the colourful blooms and the fresh buzz of wildlife. The Tamsin Trail circular route is perfect for exploring the length of the park. It includes some inclines along the path, but nothing too heavy. Along the route itself you will walk around 7 miles, which normally takes around 3 hours to complete, but it might take you more if you decide to stop and admire the views in great spots such as King Henry’s Mound, Sawyer’s Hill, or the beautiful Isabella Plantation.



Riverside walk from Richmond to Hampton Court

To the start point from the hotel: On foot: 5 minutes

Follow a beautiful winding section of the Thames Path from Richmond down to Hampton Court, passing by lush meadows and historic towns. From point to point, this section of the trail is around 7 miles, with plenty of places to stop for a drink or well-earned treat. If you're keen to wander a little further once you arrive, you can explore Bushy Park or can see the rose garden, the great fountain, and the famous maze at historic Hampton Court Palace. From there, there's easy transport links to get you back to Richmond.



A quick stroll around the Terrace Gardens

To the start point from the hotel: On foot: 2 minutes

On the way up Richmond Hill and just steps from the hotel you’ll find the picturesque Terrace Gardens with its sloping lawns, colourful flower beds, and beautiful views down to the riverside. This is our go-to spot for a quick morning stroll or to pop out and see the sunset. The impossibly cute Hollyhock Café is nestled amongst the trees in the Terrace Gardens and is the perfect spot to have a little rest or enjoy the views.


Kew Gardens Trail

To the start point from the hotel: On foot: 30 minutes | By Bike: 12 minutes | By Car: 12 minutes

You could easily spend the whole day exploring the paradisal Kew Gardens, home of the largest and most diverse collection of living plants in the world! Enjoy a peaceful and unforgettable escape from the bustling city and revel in the fresh air as you wander through 300 acres of beautiful green space and blooming flowers. There is a 3 mile trail that loops around the gardens with a few little detours to make sure you don't miss any of Kew's gorgeous highlights.


Wander around the WWT London Wetland Centre

On foot: 1 hour 10 minutes | By Bike: 25 minutes | By Car: 17 minutes

Be captivated by the natural world at the London Wetland Centre, just 3 miles from Richmond. This may not be a conventional walking trail, but this breathtaking oasis is brimming with wildlife and wondrous landscapes to explore. You can wander through meadows and marshes, take in the view from the panoramic observatory, and spot their resident otters playing in the waterfall (yes, it’s as cute as it sounds!).
