By Autumn, its spectacular views and winding woodland trails are made all the more beautiful by the auburn and golden hues of the season. You can cycle the lovely circular route, wander through the ancient trees as the leaves fall, and spot the herds of regal Farrow & Red deer that roam the park.


Terrace Gardens

On foot: 5 minutes | By Bike: 2 minutes

On the way up Richmond Hill and just steps from the hotel you’ll find the picturesque Terrace Gardens with its sloping lawns, colourful flower beds, and beautiful views down to the riverside. The impossibly cute Hollyhock Café is nestled amongst the trees in the Terrace Gardens and is the perfect spot for a drink and a little rest.

Riverside

On foot: 5 minutes | By Bike: 2 minutes

Keep walking to the foot of the Terrace Gardens and you’ll meet the River Thames. Head North and you’ll wander past riverside pubs and cafes until you come to picturesque Richmond Bridge and the town centre. If you head South, you can enjoy a peaceful stroll with the river on one side and lush meadows on the other. You can follow this route down to Ham or cross over to Marble Hill Park. If you’re feeling more adventurous, you can still hire row boats, kayaks, and paddle boards in autumn.


Kew Gardens

You could easily spend the whole day exploring the paradisal Kew Gardens, home of the largest and most diverse collection of living plants in the world! Enjoy a peaceful and unforgettable escape from the bustling city and revel in the fresh air as you wander through 300 acres of beautiful green space. One of the must-do activities at Kew Gardens is the Treetop Walkway, which is 200 metres long and 18 metres above ground. Walk amongst the autumnal chestnut and oak trees and enjoy a unique, birds’ eye-view of the Royal Gardens.

WWT London Wetland Centre

Be captivated by the natural world at the London Wetland Centre, just 3 miles from Richmond. This breath-taking oasis is brimming with wildlife and wondrous landscapes to explore. You can wander through meadows and marshes, take in the view from the panoramic observatory, and spot their resident otters playing in the waterfall (yes, it’s as cute as it sounds!).



Bushy Park & Hampton Court

On foot: 1 hour 10 minutes | By Bike: 25 minutes | By Car: 17 minutes

Bushy Park is another gorgeous spot to admire the autumn leaves and spend the day exploring. Roam from the Water Gardens in the North-East corner down past the Woodland Gardens and the lovely Diana fountain to connected Hampton Court Park in the South. Here you can see the rose garden, the great fountain, and the famous maze at historic Hampton Court Palace.
