We are lucky enough to have the idyllic Royal Richmond Park on our doorstep and are only a stone’s throw away from the romantic riverside, however if you are keen to venture a little further this season, we have put together a list of our favourite spots for you to explore!

Less than 30 minutes
You could easily spend the whole day exploring the paradisal Kew Gardens, with the largest and most diverse collection of living plants, there is so much to discover! A peaceful escape from the bustling city, revel in the fresh air as you wander through 300 acres of beautiful green space.
200 metres long and 18 metres above ground, one of the must-do activities in Kew Gardens is the Treetop Walkway. Nestled amongst chestnut and oak trees, the walkway offers a unique, birds’ eye-view of the Royal Gardens.
Once your feet are firmly back on the ground, spend some time exploring the Victorian glasshouses and wander through the exotic Palm House. Make sure you bring your camera; you won’t want to forget the tropical Orchid collection!
Ham House & Gardens
Set on the bank of the Thames, explore the rich history of Ham House, in the heart of Richmond. Virtually untouched for 400 years, it houses a fabulous collection of 17th century furniture and textiles. Enjoy a morning wandering the family house and garden trails and stop for a light lunch in the Orangery Garden Café’. Up to one hour’s drive
Box Hill, just a 40-minute drive south of Richmond, is a place of outstanding natural beauty. A haven for walking and cycling, you can choose to enjoy a short stroll or an 8-mile hike! At the foot of Box Hill, you’ll find the iconic stepping-stones, a picnic perfect spot next to the River Mole.
One of the most popular trails at Box Hill, is the ‘Happy Valley circular walk’. The 2.7mile child friendly route passes through some of Surrey Hills’ most beautiful woodland.
After enjoying all the views, it is only a short walk to the Box Hill Café for a well-earned tea, or, if you prefer there’s even a craft brewery where you can sample a variety of local beers.
Virginia Water Lake
Enjoy a scenic waterside walk around the beautiful Virginia Lake in Windsor. The lake is set within Windsor Great Park and is surrounded by blossoming gardens. As you take a peaceful stroll around the lake, you’ll pass a magical 100ft colourful totem pole and Roman-style ruins, known as the ‘Leptis Magna’ ruins. It takes on average about two hours to wander around the whole lake and just as you think you have discovered all of Virginia Water Lake's surprises, at the very end of the trail you will reach a cascading waterfall.
With three shopping centres, characterful side streets lined with independent boutiques and a farmer’s market, Guilford is Surrey's must-visit shopping destination. If you are planning a trip to Guilford, we recommend visiting on a Friday or Saturday, when their traditional market flourishes along the main high street. Offering handmade crafts, plants, flowers, jewellery and delicious local produce, you’ll experience the buzz of a real market atmosphere and hopefully come home with a souvenir too!
